Why are we Different?

Care Assistance in KentWhen looking to ensure that your loved ones are going to be supported in a way that would maintain their independence and safety for as long as possible, you need to be confident that help is always at hand. The founders of Home Care Services have personally experienced the difficulty of accessing appropriate services for their loved ones, and this is precisely why we launched our company in 1994. We simply could not find any one else who was going to care in the way that we wanted them to!

Home Care Services provides care and support for people who cannot wholly look after themselves. We provide our service in your own home, at times convenient to you, and in ways you find most agreeable. We have sound principles for the way we run our service.

Central to these principles is our belief that the rights of services users are paramount.

Our service users

Home Care Services’ aim is to deliver the highest possible quality of care to our service users, adopting a flexible approach to individuals needs, enabling them to continue to live in their own homes and helping to maintain their independence and preserve their quality of life.

We co-operate with other services and professionals to help to maximise each service user’s independence and to ensure as fully as possible the service users maximum participation in the community.

We provide for each service user a package of care that contributes to his or her overall personal and healthcare needs and preferences.

In order to do this we ensure that a potential service user’s needs and preferences are thoroughly assessed by one of our trained and experienced staff. We make sure that the care we provide meets the assessed needs of each service user, that needs are re-assessed quarterly, and that the care and support provided is flexible enough to respond to changing needs or requirements.

Our staff

We recognise that our staff are our main interface with our clients and consequently we have a great responsibility in ensuring that we recruit the most appropriate people.

The aim of HCS Group’s recruitment and selection process is to ensure that the most suitable candidates are chosen for the job. Our carers are instructed never to forget that they are guests in the service user’s home, and that they must be careful that familiarity does not blunt the respect they should continue to show their host.

We recognise the importance of providing an efficient and effective comprehensive induction programme to TOPSS standards for all new employees, thus maintaining quality of service to our service users. We know that it is essential that all our staff are highly motivated and fully trained to perform their roles to the highest levels.

We go above and beyond the Minimum National Occupational Standards set by the National Training Organisation.

When recruiting new staff, Home Care Services will refer to the Protection of Vulnerable Adults register and the Protection of Vulnerable Children’s register and will perform either a standard of enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check on the candidates.

Operations

We examine our operations constantly to ensure that we are successfully achieving our stated aims and purposes. As part of this process we use staff supervision and appraisal.

The aim of supervision is to:
  • Identify solutions to problems
  • Improve practice
  • Increase understanding of work-related issues
  • Identify training needs
All supervision has three core functions:
  • Provide and enhance quality care
  • Promote personal and professional development
  • Promote support to care staff in their work
HCS Group recognises that their care staff work in a variety of settings, requiring different degrees of supervision. The process of learning and support is, however, continuous throughout employment, and assists staff to develop and achieve ever-improving quality care.

As you can see, HCS Group is wholeheartedly committed to providing top quality services and to continuously improve in the level of care we offer.
